Play Readings

Death of a Salesman

By Arthur Miller

Directed by Michele Haywood and Nicola Taylor

In preparation for our eventual performance of Arthur Miller’s “Death of a Salesman,” hopefully in 2021, ETC will be holding a Play Reading of this classic play.

This will be a wonderful opportunity to hear this play aloud and see if you may be interested in auditioning for a role when we are able to stage this next. We are in search of people interested in reading so if you are, please confirm your interest and attendance to director Michele Haywood at or 0413 692 283. Interested participants will be allocated parts to read but you are also welcome to attend to just listen to the play.

Date: Sunday 12 July 2020
Time: 11am – 2pm
Venue: Via Zoom
If COVID-19 restrictions are eased before this date, consideration of attending a live play read will be considered.

RSVP: Saturday 4 July 2020
Phone/SMS attendance and interest in reading and preferred characters, or if you would like to just listen to the play being read, to Michele Haywood at or 0413 692 283.

Zoom meeting details will be forwarded to all interested parties before the play reading date.

The story revolves around the last days of Willy Loman, a failing salesman, who cannot understand how he failed to win success and happiness. Through a series of tragic soul-searching revelations of the life he has lived with his wife, his sons, and his business associates, we discover how his quest for the “American Dream” kept him blind to the people who truly loved him. A thrilling work of deep and revealing beauty that remains one of the most profound classic dramas of the American theatre.
